Waxing - Advantages and Disadvantages of Waxing

It is a longest-lasting technique in the removal of unwanted hairs from the body skin. Waxing, is suitable to all hairy surfaces. When wax is warm, it enters the follicle, allowing the hair to be pulled out from the root. Hair grows back in 3 to 6 weeks.

Waxing is a temporary method of removal of the hairs. Hot wax is applied to the skin from which hair is to be removed. The hair becomes trapped in the wax. Along with the wax, the hairs are removed entirely, follicle and all. Because the entire hair is removed, the skin feels remarkably smoother than when shaving or using chemical depilatories.

Waxing is accomplished by spreading a wax combination thinly over the skin. A cloth or paper strip is then pressed on the top and ripped off with a quick movement against the direction of hair growth. This removes the wax along with the hair and dead skin cells, leaving the skin smooth.

With the help of this method, the hairs gets removed from the root. Almost any area of the body can be waxed, including eyebrows , face , bikini area , legs , arms , back , abdomen and feet.

The possible advantages of waxing are as:-

  • The hairs become softer, finer and sparser, when applying this method frequently.
  • The ends of the hairs are not blunt because hairs regrow from the follicle.
  • This method causes, hardly any irritation, redness or itchiness.
  • Waxing can be done at home.
  • It is a fast and inexpensive method of the removal of hairs.

Disadvantages of waxing:

  • The disadvantage to waxing is that it can be painful for those with sensitive skin.
  • Hairs can break off at or below surface.
  • One must be careful to avoid infecting skin.
  • Consistency is difficult to get correct.
